Brands like Lorillers Newport make up nearly one-third of US $ 83 million annually in cigarette sales, and many of these brands come from a small number of smokers.

A draft report from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Washington found that more than half of Hispanic teen smokers use menthol. The number of white teenagers burning menthol has increased significantly.
The report is scheduled for next week, and some plans to read the report have been published by the FDA, but the published articles do not contain menthol recommendations. The report may require a total ban or stricter restrictions on menthol tobacco. Jonathan Samed, professor of smoking at the University of Southern California, said: "Discuss general conclusions and recommendations."
Menthol cigarettes make up approximately 30% of total cigarette sales in the United States. This topic is very important for Lorillard Inc. (LO), the maker of the major menthol brand Newport. This product accounts for about 90% of the company's sales. Menthol tobacco is also sold by Altria Group Inc. (MO) and Reynolds American Inc. (RIA), but is not dependent on gross sales.

The FDA received approval in 2009 to regulate tobacco products. All tobacco flavors except menthol have been banned by tobacco laws because they cause smoking in children and teenagers. The law required the FDA Advisory Group to report on the health effects of menthol in tobacco. The FDA has no deadline or deadline to comply with panel recommendations.
One of the questions raised by the FDA's Tobacco Committee is whether menthol covers the hardness of tobacco, and whether it promotes smoking and quits smoking.
According to the tobacco industry, there is no evidence that tobacco contained in menthol is more likely to start smoking than regular tobacco, and that menthol tobacco poses the same risks as conventional tobacco.

More than 80% of young African Americans and more than half of Hispanic smokers use menthol tobacco between the ages of 12 and 17.
Teenage smoking has declined over the past decade. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 19.5% of grades 9-12 reported smoking last month, compared to 34.8% in 1999. About 21% of US adults smoke.
"The consumption of menthol tobacco among young people is increasing as the number of white teenagers aged 12 to 17 who smoke menthol increases," says the project.
